Once again June was designated as Safety Awareness Month at Tyler Pipe in Tyler, Texas.  Tyler Pipe General Manager Greg Simmons set out his goals and objectives for the team during a team information and exchange meeting and talked about their successes and the fact that they had gone 300 days without a lost time injury.  But they also reviewed opportunities that they had missed.  Greg reminded team members that there is a safety protocol for all of the jobs and regardless of whether it is the first time you have performed a job or if you have performed the function a thousand times, safety is priority number one.

No matter how much money we spend as an organization or how many safety improvements we make, at the end of the day it boils down to each and every team member making a conscience  decision to perform their jobs with safety in the forefront of their mind.  To help with this, Tyler Pipe held a safety slogan contest.  They encouraged team members to put on their thinking caps and come up with a safety slogan that would be printed on t-shirts and distributed to all team members to commemorate their commitment to safety.  They received 39 entries, but the grand prize winner was Don Teer who not only will have the notoriety of having his safety slogan printed, but is also the lucky winner of a $100 gift card.  His slogan, Safety is our Cast Iron Rule, was unanimously selected by a panel fo seven impartial judges.

Congratulations Don.
